For many families with loved ones impacted by cognitive decline, dementia, or Alzheimer’s, the holidays can be particularly difficult to navigate. According to a recent CDC study, more than 53% of all adult caregivers are afflicted by stress, depression, isolation, anxiety, and an overall decline in their personal health – inhibiting their ability to provide assistance to their loved ones during a time when interpersonal connection and quality time spent are paramount.

Committed to offering life-enriching programs and meaningful partnerships to improve the quality of life for residents, Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway has partnered with the highly respected Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), in collaboration with Texas Tech and The University of Texas at Austin, to provide residents and local seniors aged 50 and older an impactful opportunity to pursue lifelong learning. Participants can take part in hybrid learning sessions in a variety of subjects that are held in person at Belmont Village Lakeway or virtually online, making it easy for seniors to join. Belmont Village Lakeway launched a six-week pilot program in October and was one of the first OLLI partnerships to offer classes offsite of a college campus.

To commemorate Veterans Day, Belmont Village Senior Living Turtle Creek proudly celebrated 29 resident veterans who were bestowed with the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA) Medal of Freedom on Friday, November 11th. The ceremony was part of a breakfast held at Belmont Village Senior Living Turtle Creek ahead of the Greater Dallas Veterans Day parade hosted by the AFA Seidel Chapter Dallas. After the breakfast, Belmont Village unveiled its recently updated American Heroes: Portraits of Service, a captivating veteran portrait gallery that memorializes the courage, bravery, and commitment of the veterans who reside at Belmont Village, honoring their exceptional service to this country.

The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) unveiled a new gallery exhibit today titled “American Heroes: Portraits of Service” at Midway International Airport, located in the pedestrian walkway between the CTA Orange Line station and the terminal.
