Integrated Aesthetics announced that board-certified plastic surgeon Young Cho, MD, PhD, has been selected as a national trainer in the MD Codes™ program within the Allergan Medical Institute. Dr. Cho joined a roster of just 34 medical professionals nationwide who hold the designation.
Dr. Cho was selected as a mentee under Dr. Mauricio de Maio, a well-known Brazilian plastic surgeon who developed the MD Codes system, and recently served as a lead faculty member for one of eight Allergan Medical Institute (AMI) Advanced clinical injection programs offered across the country.
The MD Codes system is a structural mapping framework for facial injectables. Rather than addressing surface wrinkles alone, the methodology uses a defined matrix of anatomical injection points intended to lift, contour, and balance the face. By targeting deeper contributors to facial aging, such as bone resorption and fat-pad volume loss, the approach aims to deliver significant facial rejuvenation without surgery.
“Joining the MD Codes national faculty is a profound honor,” said Dr. Cho. “My training as a reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeon shapes how I assess a patient’s face. I see it below the skin as an interconnected system of skeletal support, muscle dynamics, and changing soft-tissue volume. Dr. de Maio's framework brings that level of surgical precision to non-surgical injectables.”
The MD Codes framework has gained adoption among aesthetic physicians internationally as patient interest has shifted toward subtle, structural results over isolated wrinkle treatment. National trainer designations within the Allergan Medical Institute recognize practitioners who meet the program’s standards for anatomical knowledge and injection technique and who are qualified to instruct other physicians.
Dr. Cho’s educational work extends beyond the MD Codes appointment. He is scheduled to serve as the expert anatomist faculty member for an Allergan Aesthetics “Face to Face” course in Austin, Texas, and serves as an anatomy faculty trainer at the AMI training center for its Immersive Interactive Anatomy course in Orange County, California.
“Teaching anatomy to other physicians sharpens my own practice. Every course requires me to articulate why a particular injection point produces a particular result, and that discipline carries directly back to patient care,” commented Dr. Cho.
